INTERACTIVE GUIDED TOURS

Our guided tours offer are not traditional, in fact they involve our guest in the life inside the Fortress. We said no to touch screens in favor of genuine and engaging human contact. A guide in historical clothes will stay with you in this journey, without telling only the technical knowledge but favoring the greatest possible interaction with demonstrations and tests, which visitors can take part.

Visitors will have a unique and personal experience, in line with vangard museum systems.

The visit, through the installations we created, include complete alives rooms. The guided tour is based each time on the group and the duration is about one hour. 

We suggest you to book your visit before your arrival.

RATTO GUERRIERO TAVERN

Inside the Fortress there is our restaurant "Taverna al Ratto Guerriero", where you can have a break with local and historical food, in combination of simplicity and taste.

WHERE WE ARE

We are in San Romano in Garfagnana (province of Lucca).

It can be reached by car or bus, also of the grand touring bus (12 meters) and close to the fortress there is a large parking, from which you can continue by walk.

For who have walking difficulties or non-walking people, a small train service can be arranged with at least 48 hours notice.

You can also reach the Fortezza by local train from which you can continue with a private mini-bus (recommended only for small groups) or by walk accompanied by an environmental guide. Please stop at Villetta, Camporgiano or Piazza al Serchio.

POINT OF INTEREST

The Fortress of Verrucole is a very important medieval site, located on a hill 600 meters high, in the municipality of San Romano in Garfagnana, Lucca, Tuscany.

There are 5/10 minutes walk an uphill path From the church of San Lorenzo; it will lead you under the powerful Estense bulwarks. You will have a breathtaking view from the sixteenth century ramparts.The Fortress is immersed in the greenery of Tuscany, and has eco-sustainability projects such as the entirely ecological train for people with walking difficulties.This innovative service also allows people with difficulties to reach it. The monorail train consists of two wagons carrying 8 people plus the driver and starts from the parking close to the Verrucole village up to the Fortress where a lift is a vailable.
